Trendy Tuesday: Kelsey Jensen Interview: 4-26-2016

Welcome to another "Trendy Tuesday!"
Today I'm joined by Kelsey Jensen, author of  "Pierce My Heart."

Kelsey is here today to talk about a little bit about herself and her writing process and novel!
Thanks Kelsey for joining me today! I can't wait to get into these questions with you!
If you're interested in learning more about "Pierce My Heart" you can go to:

It all began with a choice...

Anna Pierce had, by all accounts, a blessed life. She grew up in a home full of laughter, love, and support. Where the biggest problem she faced (other than how to deal with her family's crazy antics) was deciding her plans for college. Little did she know the ugly path her choice would drag her down.

A choice that left her free-falling...
Fast forward five years. Her life still held that same laughter, love and support, but it was no longer full. A shadow hung overhead, waiting. Always threatening.

Until he caught her...
Jake Taylor stormed into her life and turned her world upside down. He made her feel things she'd hidden away from; made her face life again. But, most importantly, he helped her find the light.

And gave her happily ever after...

Thanks again for joining me today, Kelsey. I hope you're as excited as I am! Now without futher ado, onto the interview!

Kelsey,

What are the Novels you’ve written:
At the moment Pierce My Heart is the only work I have fully written, but I have two other projects in the works and about three going ‘round in my head.

Did you always wanted to be a writer? If not what did you want to be?:
Gosh, no. I never even thought about being a writer until Anna (MC of PMH) started talking to me.

I skipped around a lot about what I wanted to do with my life. Everything from dreaming of being a lawyer when I was little (I wanted the pink bug like Reese Witherspoon, too) to interior decorating with lots in-between.

When did you first consider yourself a “writer”?
When I started to write PMH. I’d been a storyteller long before that; playing out stories in my head, using my Barbies as a kid, or The Sims as I got older. Being a writer, to me, doesn’t mean you actually have to sell your work, it means you write. For yourself, your mother, your lover, or the kooky neighbor down the street; you just write.

What is the name of your latest book, and if you had to summarize it in less than 20 words what would you say?
Pierce My Heart.
The love story of Anna Pierce and Jake Taylor.

Do you have any future books planned or in mind?
I’ve got a couple projects going on at the moment. One is a sci-fi romance I’ve tentatively titled Soul Bond and the other is an untitled paranormal romance.

Besides those, I have plans to continue the Women of Willowbrook series that PMH started with books for Evan, Grace, Payton, and Jolene. Maybe a novella here or there for Nate and Wyatt, but I’m not sure.

Other than that, I’ve got a couple others running through my mind.

If we were to go to a book store together, where would I find you?:
Salivating over in the Romance section.

How do you come up with characters names and place names in your books?:
All of my MC’s first names have come to me, so far. Some of the secondary character’s names as well. But, if they don’t, I just hit up google and the baby naming sites, scrolling until I find something that clicks.

Place wise, I made it up. Certain aspects of the places are either places I’ve been to (all altered) or I’ve seen (also altered). I’ll have an idea in my head and I’ll use 3-however-many-I-need pictures to help describe it in a way that’s imaginable.

Do you decide on character traits (ie shy, quiet, tomboy girl) before writing the whole book or as you go along?:
 It’s a little a both.

The characters themselves usually talk to me before I start writing so they’ve already shown me a little of who they are. But as I write, more traits start to show themselves.

Your favorite singer/group is?:
Bob Seger is amazing!

I’m a huge fan of 70’s & 80’s classic rock, but I like a blend of everything.
(ME TOO!)

Your favorite color is?:
Pink…no, purple. No, red. Yeah, red. It’s red. Today.

What sparked the idea for this book?
I was mowing fairways one day and Anna just started telling me her story.

What’s your favorite season/weather?
I love fall, but I dig summer as well. As long as it’s a dry heat. Humidty suuuuuuuuucks.

Wow! Thank you for answering so many questions! I had a lot of fun getting to know you, and I hope your readers enjoy this too! If anyone is interested in follow Kelsey, all of her information is below:
